Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer, has announced the appointment of Mr Mrithyunjay Chandilya as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Logistics Business.

Mr Chandilya comes with global exposure and a strong experience of working in leadership positions in multinational and consulting organisations. He is renowned for his role as CEO, AirAsia India where he successfully started up India’s first foreign airline in the domestic space and was responsible for operational excellence, marketing and sales, brand management, and organisational growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Karan Adani, CEO, APSEZ, said, “We welcome Mr Mrithyunjay Chandilya to the Adani Group. Our country has laid strong emphasis on manufacturing, and initiatives such as Make in India are boosting domestic production, which in turn is bolstering the logistics industry. Logistics is the backbone of our economy, providing efficient and cost-effective flow of goods on which other commercial sectors depend. As a group we aim to build our identity around an integrated logistics business model; we are not going to be known as just a port company but more as a logistics company led by our ports business.

“Mr Chandilya comes with valuable experience in both the domestic and international markets. He will play an important role in seamlessly integrating our logistics vertical with our ports and SEZ business, working towards our strategy of becoming a one-stop shop for many of our major customers. We wish him all the success for a long and fruitful association with the Adani Group”.

Mr Chandilya started his career with lngersoll Rand as its Business Development and Marketing Manager and rapidly rose to the position of Commercial Business Unit Manager Asia Pacific based in Shanghai, and subsequently as the company’s General Manager based in Kuala Lumpur. After a successful stint of seven years at lngersoll Rand, he joined Egon Zehnder in Singapore as its Principal Management Consultant where he worked till April 2013. From Egon Zehnder he joined AirAsia India as the Chief Executive Officer based in Bangalore, and worked with AirAsia lndia from May 2013 to April 2016.[/vc_column_text]
