State-owned Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) today announced incorporation of wholly-owned subsidiary Inland & Coastal Shipping Ltd.

“Wholly-owned subsidiary of SCI viz Inland & Coastal Shipping Ltd has been incorporated on September 29,” the company said in a filing to BSE.

Starting as a marginal liner shipping company with just 19 vessels, the SCI has today evolved into the largest Indian shipping company.

The SCI also has substantial interests in various segments of the shipping trade. SCI’s own fleet includes bulk carriers, crude oil tankers, product tankers, container vessels and passenger-cum-cargo vessels.
