MoRTH Secretary Anurag Jain has informed that the government is planning to develop a MMLP in the Sagor village of the Dhar district near Pithampur, Indore. The park occupies an area of 255 acres and involves a development cost of over INR 900 crore. Indore is known as the Commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh due to rich ecosystem, fertile soil and high-quality workforce.

Jain said that the MMLP is to be built through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) which will operate on a partnership between the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHMNL), the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) and the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL). NHMNL has already deposited INR 177 to MPIDC for acquiring the land for the project, and RVNL will commission a 6 km long railway line to provide rail connectivity to the MMLP.

The MMLP will be developed by GR Infraprojects Ltd., and construction is likely to start in September. The site is strategically located near Pithampur industrial area, the city’s apparel and pharma cluster and abutting the Indore Tihi-Dahod rail line, as well as proposed Mhow ring road, at 30 kms from Indore Airport and Indore city. The estimated total project cost is Rs 1110.58 Crore.

The development of the MMLP has been planned in three phases and target completion of Phase-I is 2 years i.e., by 2025 leading to commercial operations. It will cater to about 12.79 million MT cargo in the horizon period of 45 years and will give huge boost to the industrial zones in the catchment region such as Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar, Pithampur, Khandwa and Barwani. It will create lot of employment opportunities and bring in economic development in the region.
