Bulk carrier MV SARAH has berthed at Deendayal Port, Kandla, with a consignment of bulk lentils earmarked for distribution to multiple receivers in the hinterland and nearby markets. Discharge operations are underway, with port stakeholders focusing on quick vessel turnaround and smooth cargo evacuation to support the agricultural supply chain.

Discharge operations and safety focus

Cargo unloading is in progress with an emphasis on maintaining high operational efficiency and minimising berth time. Stevedores, terminal operators, the vessel’s agents and port authorities are working in close coordination to ensure steady discharge rates while optimising the use of available handling equipment. The operations are being executed under strict safety protocols, with adherence to standard operating procedures and monitoring of on-ground activities to safeguard workers and equipment.

Deendayal Port’s role in agri logistics

The call of MV SARAH underscores Deendayal Port’s capability to handle sizeable bulk parcels of agricultural commodities such as lentils. The port continues to position itself as a key gateway for imported agri-bulk, supported by its infrastructure, draft, and connectivity to consuming regions.
