Hinterland connectivity

Rail & road

As of early 2026, Adani Krishnapatnam Container Terminal (AKCT) is connected to a network of approximately 12- 15 key Inland Container Depots (ICDs) across South and Central India. The primary ICD hubs serviced by AKCT are Whitefield, Malur, Marripalam, Sanathnagar, Nagulapally, Nagpur and Gunthur. The most critical rail links for AKCT are ICD Malur (Adani’s own facility) and ICD Whitefield. The terminal operates frequent “Fixed Day” trains to these locations to serve the large electronics and automotive manufacturing clusters in Karnataka. AKCT is equipped to handle Double-Stack Container Rakes, primarily for the North and Central Indian ICDs. As the terminal is 100% owned by Adani Ports (APSEZ), it benefits from a “synergistic” relationship with Adani Logistics, which operates its own private ICDs alongside the state-owned CONCOR (Container Corporation of India). CONCOR and Adani Logistics operate daily “Double-Stack” container rakes. The terminal is linked to the main Chennai-Kolkata rail line via a 19-km private rail siding. It is directly connected to National Highway 16 (NH-16) via a dedicated 18-km six-lane port road, serving as a gateway for the Chennai-Kolkata corridor.

CFS & warehousing

Adani Krishnapatnam Container Terminal (AKCT) is supported by a specialised cluster of 5-6 major Container Freight Stations (CFSs). These high-capacity facilities are strategically located within a 15–20 km radius of the port to ensure rapid evacuation and “zero-bottleneck” movement. Major CFS operators at Krishnapatnam are: Seabird CFS, Sravan Shipping CFS, and Gateway Distriparks.
