About NSICT

NSICT is a container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (Nhava Sheva), India, operated by DP World. It has an installed capacity of 1.2 million TEUs and handled about 1.21 million TEUs in FY25.

NSICT was the first major container terminal built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Commercial operations began in 2000. The concession has now been extended until 2031. The current owner is DP World. In April 2005, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and DP World settled a 20-year-old tariff dispute, involving a ₹ 705 crore adjustment through volume-based royalty discounts. This is expected to further boost cargo volumes. NSICT has strengthened its role as a key gateway for the Far East and ASEAN regions by adding several high-frequency services. CISC2 / SIS / CI6 weekly service, introduced in 2025, directly connects Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, and Port Kelang; AIS5 / SI8 Service to Jakarta, Surabaya, and Singapore. The Evergreen-operated NCI service has upgraded vessels to serve major hubs in Southeast Asia and North China. Ocean Network Express (ONE) continues its TIP service calls, linking India to the Mediterranean and the US East Coast via transhipment. In the 2024–25 fiscal year, NSICT handled 1.21 million TEUs, a 6.67% year-on-year increase. CONCOR is the largest double-stack container train carrier for NSICT, operating daily scheduled services. Each rake carries 180 TEUs. JNPA has approved a plan to merge NSICT and NSIGT into a single mega Terminal.
