Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced revised freight rates for shipments from South Asia to Europe, with the updated tariffs taking effect from August 16, 2026, and remaining valid until further notice, but no later than August 31, 2026.

Which routes and ports are covered under the new rates?

The updated Freight All Kinds rates apply to cargo moving from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan to Antwerp and Valencia, covering key South Asian gateway ports serving European trade lanes.

What are the new rates from Colombo and Chattogram?

For shipments from Colombo and Chattogram, MSC has set rates of USD 6,050 per twenty-foot container to both Antwerp and Valencia. Forty-foot containers are priced at USD 6,350 from Colombo and USD 6,850 from Chattogram.

What are the revised rates from Indian and Pakistani ports?

From Nhava Sheva and Port Qasim, rates are set at USD 6,150 per twenty-foot container to Antwerp and USD 6,250 to Valencia. Shipments from Ennore will be charged USD 6,350 to Antwerp and USD 6,450 to Valencia, while cargo from Kolkata is priced at USD 6,450 to Antwerp and USD 6,550 to Valencia. Forty-foot dry and high-cube containers are charged at the same level as twenty-foot equipment across these routes.

What do the announced rates include?

MSC said the published rates cover base ocean freight along with selected origin surcharges. Additional charges, including the Bunker Recovery Charge, Emissions Trading System costs, Emergency Fuel Surcharge, FuelEU surcharge, origin and destination terminal handling charges, carrier security fees and other applicable local charges, will continue to apply separately. The revised tariffs exclude IMO cargo and high-value commodities.

What does this mean for shippers on South Asia-Europe trade lanes?

The rate revision reflects continued adjustments in South Asia-Europe container pricing as carriers factor in fuel, emissions and security-related cost pressures. Exporters and freight forwarders across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will need to account for the updated FAK structure and applicable surcharges when planning shipments to Antwerp and Valencia from mid-August onward.
