Allcargo Group and the National Maritime Foundation formalise a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding MoU scaled

Allcargo Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Maritime Foundation, India’s premier maritime think tank, marking a significant step in industry-academia collaboration aimed at strengthening the country’s maritime, logistics and supply chain sectors.

What does the MoU set out to achieve?

The agreement, signed through Allcargo Group’s philanthropic initiatives, establishes a framework for joint research projects, industry outreach programs, and studies, along with knowledge sharing through conferences, dialogues and workshops. It will also explore collaborative programs involving logistics sector research scholars from IIM Mumbai and other universities, bringing together industry and policy experts to develop future-ready maritime and logistics solutions.

How does this connect to Allcargo’s broader academic engagement?

Shashi Kiran Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Allcargo Group, is serving his second term as Chairperson of the Board of Governors of IIM Mumbai, where he has played a key role in developing the institution into a world-class academic hub focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. The MoU aligns with Allcargo Group’s broader commitment to knowledge creation and logistics sector development, supporting the government’s vision of building resilient supply chains, maritime connectivity and sustainable economic growth.

Shetty said the collaboration reflects Allcargo Group’s belief that knowledge is a strategic asset for boosting sectoral competitiveness and nation-building, adding that India’s ambition to become a global maritime and logistics powerhouse depends on world-class ideas as much as robust infrastructure. He said industry, academia and research institutions must work together to anticipate challenges, accelerate innovation and create practical solutions, with the partnership expected to generate actionable insights that strengthen supply chain resilience and support India’s global leadership in logistics.

What did the National Maritime Foundation say about the collaboration?

Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, Director General of the National Maritime Foundation, said India’s maritime aspirations require close collaboration between policy, industry and academia to convert ideas into impactful outcomes. He said the partnership combines research excellence with industry experience, and that generating evidence-based insights and fostering informed dialogue will be critical given the maritime domain’s central role in global trade, economic security and supply chain resilience.

What does this mean for India’s maritime and logistics sector?

The collaboration positions Allcargo Group and the National Maritime Foundation to jointly advance research, nurture intellectual capital, and contribute practical policy and industry perspectives aimed at strengthening India’s standing as a leading maritime nation and a globally competitive logistics hub.
