Adani Contract News

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest integrated transport utility, has joined the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) as an official Adopter, pledging to begin nature-related reporting from FY2026.

The move positions APSEZ as the first Indian integrated transport and logistics company to commit to the TNFD framework—an internationally recognized system designed to help businesses identify, assess, and disclose their dependencies and impacts on nature.

In a company statement, APSEZ said the initiative underscores its intent to align operations with global sustainability and biodiversity standards, marking a “significant milestone” in its broader ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) journey.

The TNFD, established by the UNEP Finance Initiative, UNDP, WWF, and Global Canopy, provides science-based guidance for integrating nature-related risks and opportunities into business and financial decision-making.

By adopting this framework, APSEZ joins a select group of global port and logistics operators advancing efforts to protect marine ecosystems and biodiversity. The company noted that this commitment reinforces its vision of responsible growth and transparent environmental reporting.

APSEZ said it will begin aligning its corporate reporting with TNFD recommendations starting FY26, adding that this approach builds on its existing climate risk assessment and disclosure practices, already benchmarked to global standards.

The company has also made measurable progress in environmental restoration. To date, it has afforested over 4,200 hectares of mangroves and actively conserved another 3,000 hectares, making it India’s largest private-sector contributor to mangrove ecosystem restoration.

Through this latest step, Adani Ports reaffirms its goal of embedding nature-positive principles into business strategy and demonstrating leadership in sustainable port and logistics development on a global scale.
