Allcargo Logistics, the country’s largest end-to-end private sector logistics player, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JNPT and CIDCO wherein Allcargo will set up the operations, maintenance and management of a Skill Development Centre in Bokadveera, Uran near JNPT. Youth from the underprivileged sections of the society will be provided skill-based training at the Centre to boost their employability opportunities in the domestic port and maritime logistics sector. Conceptualized as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK), a flagship scheme of the Union Government’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the skill development centres will offer industry-centric training and job skilling initiatives to needy youth across diverse industry verticals like logistics.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is supporting skilling in Sagarmala through its stakeholders including National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) and the flagship scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK).

At the Skill Development Centre in Bokadveera, Uran, youth will be imparted training in key skill areas, qualifying them for employment in diverse positions like picker, packer, warehouse supervisor, heavy motor vehicle operator and logistics executive.

“Allcargo remains committed to being a dedicated partner in imparting specialized training and course-driven learning to underprivileged youth for enhancing their job prospects in port and maritime logistics. We are glad to associate with JNPT and CIDCO to play a crucial role in building a skill-oriented learning ecosystem to create a robust human resource infrastructure for the Indian logistics industry,” stated Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman, Allcargo Logistics.

Allcargo deeply believes in social development and community service. Through Avashya Foundation, the company undertakes sustainability initiatives in key focus areas of environment, education, healthcare, women empowerment, sports and natural disaster relief, reaching out to lakhs of beneficiaries all over India. Nipun – a dedicated skill development programme by Allcargo near its Nhava Sheva CFS aims at training the unemployed youth from the nearby areas in logistics related skills. Allcargo has also launched a nation-wide campaign called Allcargo Greens with an aim to bring in a mindset shift towards adopting greener and cleaner ways of living.
