BEML military vehicle exports secure ₹75.58 crore

Summary

BEML has received an order worth approximately ₹75.58 crore to export and maintain high-mobility military vehicles in Southeast Asia. The contract covers its HMV 12×12 and HMV 8×8 platforms, adding overseas defence business to a portfolio spanning military equipment, mining machinery and rail transportation.

Contract combines vehicle supply and maintenance

BEML military vehicle exports have received a further boost with a Southeast Asian order covering the supply and maintenance of two high-mobility vehicle models. The company disclosed the approximately ₹75.58 crore contract on October 9, 2026.

The order includes HMV 12×12 and HMV 8×8 vehicles and was received in the normal course of business. BEML informed the stock exchanges through a disclosure under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s listing regulations.

The announcement did not identify the customer or destination country. It also did not specify the number of vehicles, delivery schedule or duration of the maintenance services.

Those details remain important for assessing the execution programme and the division of contract value between equipment supply and subsequent support.

Overseas support forms part of the agreement

The inclusion of maintenance means BEML’s responsibilities extend beyond exporting vehicles. The contract also provides for supporting the equipment in service, although the company has not published the scope of that work.

For specialised military vehicles, the combination of supply and maintenance links manufacturing with operational support. The latest announcement therefore represents both an equipment order and an overseas service commitment.

However, the available disclosure does not establish whether the maintenance arrangement includes spare parts, training, field service personnel or other support activities. These elements should not be assumed from the overall contract description.

The Southeast Asian order adds to BEML’s international defence business without providing enough information to identify the customer’s intended deployment or the vehicles’ final configuration.

Earlier domestic orders established platform applications

BEML’s high-mobility vehicle range has previously secured contracts for Indian defence requirements. On December 11, 2024, the company announced a separate ₹136 crore Ministry of Defence order for HMV 8×8 vehicles.

That earlier contract related to the Battlefield Surveillance System project. It illustrates the platform’s application in carrying specialised defence equipment, although the Southeast Asian vehicles’ role has not been disclosed.

BEML described the HMV 8×8 supplied for the domestic programme as featuring independent suspension, central tyre inflation, anti-lock braking and a backbone tube chassis.

Its modular architecture allows different superstructures to be integrated. The company also highlighted component commonality across its military vehicle range, which extends from 4×4 to 12×12 configurations.

These characteristics provide background to the product family. They do not confirm the precise specifications selected under the latest export contract.

Military mobility includes heavy transport equipment

Another earlier order demonstrates BEML’s involvement in defence logistics. On December 10, 2024, it announced an approximately ₹83.51 crore Ministry of Defence contract for 50-tonne trailers.

The trailers were designed to transport battle tanks and to be towed by the company’s HMV 8×8 vehicle. Their equipment included loading ramps, air brakes, emergency brakes and a steerable turntable.

That programme connects the vehicle platform with heavy equipment transportation, alongside its use as a carrier for defence systems.

The earlier trailer and surveillance vehicle orders are separate from the October 2026 export announcement. Together, they show the range of military mobility applications associated with BEML’s established product portfolio.

Export activity extends across business divisions

The company’s recent overseas business has also included mining and construction equipment. In August 2026, BEML received a US$6.65 million order from Mauritius for BE220G hydraulic excavators intended for African markets.

The listed destinations included Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Côte d’Ivoire. Following that announcement, international order bookings stood at approximately US$119 million as of August 14.

BEML’s overall order book was ₹16,285 crore at June 30, 2026. These figures relate to earlier reporting dates and should not be treated as an updated total following the military vehicle contract.

Manufacturing base supports a diversified portfolio

Established in 1964, BEML operates under India’s Ministry of Defence across three principal businesses: Defence and Aerospace, Mining and Construction, and Rail and Metro.

Its manufacturing facilities are located in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields, Mysuru and Palakkad. The company produces equipment for military mobility, infrastructure development and transportation.

The latest order adds a defined export-and-maintenance commitment to that industrial base. Further information on quantities, schedules and service obligations would clarify its manufacturing and overseas support requirements.
