The New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) at Chattogram Port has set a new benchmark, handling more than 5,000 TEUs in a single day for the first time.

According to a statement from the port authority, NCT—operated by Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL)—processed 5,019 TEUs between 8am on 28 August and 8am on 29 August. The total included 2,101 import containers and 2,918 export containers.

Container handling at Chattogram Port has surged in August, rising by about 40% to an average of 3,903 TEUs per day. Over the past 28 days, NCT’s berths 2, 3, 4, and 5, managed by CDDL, handled 109,217 TEUs.

Since taking charge on 7 July, CDDL has overseen strong growth in operations. In its first 49 days of management (7 July–26 August), NCT handled 174,931 TEUs, compared with 119,276 TEUs recorded by the previous operator over the same timeframe (19 May–6 July).
