The port of Colombo moved 1,541,034 TEUs in 2024, marking a substantial increase of 16% year-on-year. South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) handled 1,281,642 TEUs this year, an increase of 10.4% from the same period last year. Meanwhile, the Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) saw a slighter 5% increase reporting 2,200,956 TEUs.

Overall, Colombo Port has achieved a cumulative growth of 9.6%, reaching 5,023,632 TEUs in 2024, up from 4,584,843 TEUs in the same months in 2023. If this trend continues, 2024 is poised to surpass previous records, further cementing Colombo’s role as a crucial player in the region, according to SLPA’s announcement.
