Deendayal Port Crosses 100 Million Tonnes

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) at Kandla has crossed 100 million tonnes (MMT) of cargo throughput for the financial year on October 6, 2026, reaching the milestone 51 days earlier than it did in FY 2025–26.

According to DPA, this is the earliest the port has reached the 100 MMT mark, reflecting an accelerated pace of cargo handling compared with the previous financial year.

The milestone has been supported by cargo-handling operations across the port, infrastructure capacity and productivity improvements, alongside the activities of various stakeholders involved in port operations.

Located on the Gulf of Kutch, Deendayal Port handles a diverse mix of cargo and serves industrial and commercial markets across its hinterland. The port handles both export-import (EXIM) and coastal cargo and is a major gateway for maritime trade in western India.

Cargo Handling and Capacity Expansion

The early achievement of the 100 MMT threshold comes as DPA continues work on infrastructure development, capacity enhancement and operational improvements.

The port’s cargo-handling volumes include commodities supporting industrial and commercial supply chains, with its location providing access to markets across the wider hinterland.
