India’s Merchandise Exports Rise 23% as First-Half Earnings Reach $259.89 Billion

According to latest CHEMEXCIL data, Gujarat continues to lead India’s chemical export market, accounting for 46.16% of all chemical exports in FY 2024–2025. Out of India’s $28,699 million in total chemical exports, the state shipped chemicals valued at $12,885 million. Telangana took third place with 8.71% of total exports, followed by Maharashtra with 18.06%.

Nonetheless, compared to FY24, overall exports slightly declined in FY25. According to experts, Gujarat is a chemicals hub because of its robust base of facilities for the production and export of chemicals. Gujarat has maintained its position as the leading exporter of chemicals, including organic and inorganic chemicals, dyes, and dye intermediates.

Gujarat has continuously exported more than 45% of the nation’s chemicals, despite the industry going through a difficult time when demand has experienced significant fluctuations due to international causes. Gujarat has a well-established chemical industrial environment, even though other states are seeing modest expansion.

Over the past 20 years, Gujarat’s chemicals industry has witnessed significant growth in investment, primarily because to the state’s manufacturing facilities, which make it easier to obtain a variety of raw materials. The largest chemical clusters in the nation are thought to include Dahej, Padra, Vatva, Ankleshwar, Vapi, and Naroda. To maintain environmental compliance, the state also has about 35 common effluent treatment facilities (CETPs) in operation. According to experts, environmental compliance is crucial in global markets and gives Gujarat’s chemicals industry a competitive advantage.
