India’s engineering goods exports saw double-digit increase in September of this year, marking the fifth consecutive month of positive growth in the current fiscal year 2024–25, thanks to strong demand from nations like the US, UK, UAE, Germany, and Mexico.

According to the industry group Engineering Exports Promotion Council (EEPC), engineering exports climbed 10.55 percent year over year to US$9.82 billion in September 2024 from $8.89 billion in the same month of the previous fiscal year.

Over the course of April–September 2024–25, 25 of the 34 engineering panels saw positive growth, while the remaining 9 panels—which included iron and steel, iron and steel products, some non-ferrous sectors like copper, aluminum, and zinc products, IC engines, office equipment, and prima mica products—saw negative growth.

In terms of region, India’s leading engineering export destinations were still North America and the European Union, accounting for about 21% and 17% of the country’s overall engineering exports during the April–September period of FY25, respectively. With a 16% share, West Asia and North Africa (WANA) saw the largest growth of 24.1% from April to September 2024–25 compared to the same period the previous year. CIS followed with 13.3% growth, other Europe with 11.1%, North America with 8% growth, and North East Asia with 7.3% growth.

The United States, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and other leading exporting nations saw favorable growth from April to September of 2024–2025.

Exports of engineering items to the US reached US$1.55 billion in September of this year, an 8% year-over-year increase. Shipments to the US during the April–September period of FY25 totaled US$9.28 billion, an increase of 6.2% year over year.
