Ravinder Goyal-Member Operations & Business Development, Railway Board, Govt of India, inaugurated state-of-the-art LNG station and flagged off 1 st LNG powered road trailer with container at CONCOR’s Multimodal Logistics Park (MMLP) located on Western DFC at Khatuwas (Rajasthan) on 14 th November 2024, in presence of Sanjay Swarup, CMD/CONCOR and other senior officers of Indian Railways and CONCOR. Goyal is a distinguished IRTS officer of the 1987 batch with vast experience in various aspects of Railway administration.

Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Railways, Govt of India, is managing 66 container terminals across the length and breadth of the country, including 4 MMLPs located on Western DFC.

In order to promote environment-friendly logistics solutions in the country, CONCOR has commissioned in-house LNG station at MMLP Khatuwas, in collaboration with IOCL, to ensure uninterrupted supply of LNG to be used primarily for 1 st /last mile services to customers on CONCOR-owned LNG-powered road trailers. This is the first of its kind facility at any MMLP in North India.

LNG is a quieter and cleaner fuel option with an emission factor 25% lower than diesel. Depending on the duty cycle, it emits up to 28% less carbon dioxide CO2, up to 100% less sulphur oxide SOX, up to 59% less nitrogen oxide NOX, up to 91% less particulate mass PPM, and up to 30% less noise compared to diesel trucks.

CONCOR’s pioneering initiative marks a significant step towards green logistics in Northern India and demonstrates CONCOR’s commitment to fulfilling ESG norms by reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions.

On this occasion, Ravinder Goyal, MoBD, Railway Board, applauded CONCOR’s commitment to sustainable logistics. He highlighted that LNG is a cleaner, more efficient alternative to diesel, emphasizing that green energy initiatives like these are essential steps toward an eco-friendlier logistics sector. Every step towards sustainability in logistics is a welcome one, he added.

Later, Ravinder Goyal and Sanjay Swarup participated in a tree plantation drive at MMLP Khatuwas.
