India is funding several infrastructure projects in the Addu city of Maldives for improving regional connectivity and economic development. A major project in this series is the Addu reclamation and shore protection project, involving a cost of $80 million. The project involves reclamation of 184 hectares of land to promote tourism and transform Addu into a regional economic hub. $70 million will be funded for upgrading the road and drainage systems, this includes the Addu detour link road that will facilitate transportation within the atoll, enabling better logistics and connectivity.

India is currently funding 65 projects across the country with 12 specifically in Addu. Five of these projects are already completed.
