Maintaining and promoting clean environment at all levels is of paramount importance for all-round improvement in sanitary standards. A clean India also means a healthier India as incidences of ailments and diseases will come down.
With a view to maintain and promote cleanliness within JNPT and around JNPT, the premier port observed Ministry of Shipping’s initiative of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ at JNPT by undertaking various initiatives and the entire programme will last between 15th Sept – 2nd Oct 2018.

JNPT is encouraging all its employees to ensure regular cleanliness and shramadan for clean environment and better sanitation. JNPT has organised various cleanliness activities such as cleaning offices, toilets, common corridors, stairs, lifts of JNPT hospitals, CISF, school, auto garage stores, disposal of old furniture, weeding out of old files, disposal of e-waste, cleaning of water tank, wharf, drainage etc. To create the awareness of cleanliness, JNPT will spread the message through pamphlets, no spitting stickers and banners at various places, road lane marking and painting work inside port area, beautifications and cleaning of parks in JNPT. Nukkad Nataks and street plays on Swachh Bharat will also be organised to share the message. Door to door meeting has been organised for township residents, for bringing in behavioural changes to promote cleanliness in day to day life. JNPT is also initiating wall painting and quizzes contest for students of the JNPT school and essay competition and slogan competition is arranged for JNPT employees.

Supporting Swachh Bharat Pakhwada, Chairman-in-Charge Shri Neeraj Bansal, said, “Cleanliness is akin to godliness is an old Indian saying and it has become very imperative for all of us to practice cleanliness drive where ever we are. Promoting and maintaining cleanliness at work places and around that area will go a long way in fostering a healthy culture at all levels”.
