National Strategic Trade Command Centre Opens to Strengthen India’s Export Oversight

The proposed Niphad Dry Port in the Nashik district is set to develop into an integrated multi-modal logistics park serving both export-import cargo and domestic logistics needs, positioning the region as a key node on India’s national logistics and export map.

What kind of facility is being planned at Niphad?

District officials clarified that the MMLP will not be limited to EXIM cargo handling but will function as an integrated domestic logistics park, strengthening the district’s transportation, warehousing and distribution infrastructure. The facility is being developed by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and is expected to offer strong multi-modal connectivity through the Nashik-Chennai Highway, Nashik Ring Road, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Ozar Airport and the regional railway network.

How will the dry port support agricultural exports?

Nashik District Collector Ayush Prasad proposed connecting the Lasalgaon and Pimpalgaon Baswant Agricultural Produce Market Committees with the dry port, with plans to integrate other APMCs across the district in later phases. Prasad said the dry port concept need not be limited to a single physical location, describing it as a framework through which services such as customs clearance could be extended to private players and other APMCs across multiple sites. He also proposed linking the Centre’s mega grain storage scheme with the Niphad facility to strengthen storage infrastructure, improve the food supply chain and benefit farmers and traders directly.

What role will JNPA play in supporting the project?

JNPA Deputy Chairman Ravish Kumar Singh said the district’s Economic Development Cell has been connected with JNPA’s main transport office to simplify export procedures for local industries and exporters. He also confirmed that JNPA will participate as a key stakeholder in the District Export Promotion Committee meeting scheduled for August 4, 2026.

What impact is the project expected to have on Nashik’s economy?

District Collector Ayush Prasad said the Niphad MMLP, backed by strong multi-modal connectivity and JNPA’s collaboration, is expected to emerge as a key driver of Nashik’s economic growth. The project is anticipated to significantly boost agricultural exports, trade, industrial activity and employment, while positioning Nashik prominently on India’s logistics and export landscape.
