SHM Shipcare Private Limited, an integrated maritime company engaged in shipbuilding, ship repair, ship management and maritime safety solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Medhavi Skills University and officially affiliated SHM Academy to strengthen skill development in India’s maritime sector.

What does the partnership between SHM Shipcare and Medhavi Skills University involve?

Under the collaboration, SHM Academy will function as an industry-integrated learning platform affiliated with Medhavi Skills University, combining academic training with practical industry exposure. The partnership aims to deliver structured programmes focused on maritime operations, marine safety, technical competencies and industry best practices, addressing the evolving workforce needs of the maritime sector.

Who will the academy’s training programmes target?

SHM Academy will offer programmes designed for students, early-career professionals and individuals seeking specialised maritime training. The curriculum will cover marine safety systems, vessel inspections, firefighting systems, alternative fuels, fire watch training, technical operations, regulatory compliance and workplace safety.

How does the university affiliation benefit learners?

Through its official affiliation with Medhavi Skills University, SHM Academy will provide learners access to industry-relevant education aligned with recognised academic standards, aimed at enhancing employability across the wider maritime ecosystem.

What did SHM Shipcare leadership say about the initiative?

Saifuddin Hajee, Group Chairman and CEO of SHM Shipcare, said the collaboration aims to build a platform integrating academic learning with practical industry exposure, equipping learners with the technical expertise and industry-ready skills needed for the maritime sector, contributing to a future-ready workforce supporting India’s maritime ambitions. Mohammed Hajee, CEO of Marine and Fire Safety at SHM Shipcare, said SHM Academy was established to develop industry-ready talent through hands-on training in marine safety systems and technical operations, adding that the Medhavi Skills University affiliation strengthens the academy’s ability to deliver structured, industry-aligned programmes that help bridge the sector’s skill gap.
