Vivek Kele elected CFSAI President at 20th AGM in Mumbai

Vivek R Kele has been elected president of the Container Freight Stations Association of India (CFSAI) at the association’s 20th Annual General Meeting, held at the MCA in Mumbai on 24 September 2026.

Kele, founder and director of ICTPL, which operates Globicon CFS at Nhava Sheva, succeeds Suresh Kumar R as president. Kumar recently moved on from Allcargo Logistics and relocated to Bengaluru. CFSAI acknowledged his contribution during his tenure.

The association said its new leadership will continue engagement with industry stakeholders and regulatory authorities on issues affecting the container freight station sector.

CFSAI Managing Committee gets new members

V. Padmanabhan and Capt. Nishit Joshi will continue as Senior Vice Presidents, while Percy Vapiwala will remain Vice President.

Capt. Sunny Williams, Capt. Navjit Grewal and Bhaven Thacker will also continue as members of the Managing Committee.

Captain Alpesh Abhaay Sharma, Chief Operating Officer at JM Baxi, and Santosh Shetty of Conex CFS have joined the newly constituted Managing Committee.

Former CFSAI President George Joseph has been appointed to the association’s Advisory Board, alongside Naresh Parekh, Adarsh Hegde and Admiral Anand Kalaskar.

The Advisory Board will provide guidance to the Managing Committee and support the association’s activities.

CFSAI committees focus on logistics, legal and finance

The Managing Committee is supported by three specialised subcommittees covering logistics, legal and financial matters.

The Logistics Committee deals with terminal-related and trade issues affecting member CFS operations. The Legal Committee reviews legal and regulatory developments and advises the Managing Committee, while the Finance Committee provides guidance on financial matters.

CFSAI’s Mundra Chapter serves as a platform for member CFSs to coordinate operations and address issues specific to the port.

CFSAI members handle 4.5 million TEUs

CFSAI currently has 48 member container freight stations, primarily located at the JNPA, Mundra, Hazira and Pipavav gateways.

According to the association, its member facilities collectively handled approximately 4.5 million TEUs of export-import containers during 2025–26. Some members also operate CFS and inland container depot facilities at locations across India.

The volume handled by member facilities provides an indication of the scale of cargo moving through the CFS network serving India’s major gateway ports.
