Montra Electric, India's full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand, has launched its international expansion with the rollout of its Super Auto platform across Nepal, Tanzania and West Africa, flagging off its first export consignment to Nepal alongside shipments to Tanzania. What markets is Montra Electric entering first? The company has confirmed orders across West Africa as well, signalling strong demand for sustainable mobility solutions in emerging markets. As part of its global roadmap, Montra Electric is evaluating multiple high-potential markets across Asia, Africa and other emerging regions, prioritising geographies with supportive EV policies, favourable operating economics and growing demand for last-mile mobility solutions. Why is Nepal considered a strong entry market? Nepal is emerging as a key entry point, driven by supportive EV policies, rising fuel costs and access to affordable hydropower. Electric three-wheelers are becoming commercially viable for last-mile operators in the country, offering lower operating costs and reduced fossil fuel dependence. The Super Auto will be priced at NPR 8,64,900 in the Nepal market. What did Montra Electric leadership say about this expansion? Arun Murugappan, Chairman of Montra Electric, part of TI Clean Mobility Pvt Ltd, said the company's entry into Nepal reflects a belief that engineering excellence must serve real, on-ground needs across every stretch of the mobility journey, from first-mile to last-mile. He said Nepal's renewable energy strength and Montra Electric's mobility innovation make the partnership a natural fit and a template for how Indian engineering can support sustainable growth across neighbouring economies. Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric, described Nepal as a defining moment in the company's transformation from a domestic leader to a global force in sustainable mobility, saying that leveraging Nepal's abundant hydropower demonstrates how Indian innovation can help neighbouring economies build cleaner, more self-reliant growth while cutting dependence on fossil fuels. What is the strategy behind Montra Electric's international product approach? The company's international strategy is anchored in duty-cycle-driven product development, using real-world usage insights to design vehicles suited to specific operating conditions. This approach is aimed at delivering higher uptime, improved efficiency and better earning potential for operators, making the solutions relevant across diverse global markets as Montra Electric scales its product portfolio and ecosystem capabilities in high-growth EV markets. What are the key specifications of the Super Auto? Engineered for demanding environments, the Super Auto is built to deliver reliable performance across steep and uneven terrain, featuring high gradeability and Hill Hold Assist for better control and safety on inclines. Powered by a 9 kWh battery pack paired with a PMSM motor, the vehicle delivers class-leading torque of 60 Nm, an optimal driving range of 150 km on a single charge, and a top speed of 55 kmph. Its 4.5-hour charging capability supports higher daily utilisation, while multiple drive modes enable smoother power delivery and adaptability across varying load and road conditions. The vehicle also features a fully digital instrument cluster, ergonomic dual-tone seating and a spacious cabin designed for passenger comfort.
