The Directorate General of Shipping in Mumbai hosted a strategic stakeholder consultation on Recruitment and Placement Services License (RPSL) operations, chaired by Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Senior leadership from DG Shipping participated in the deliberations, including Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Shipping; Sushil Mansing Khopde, IPS, Additional Director General of Shipping; Captain Nitin Mukesh, DDG (Crew Welfare); Captain P.C. Meena, DDG (Crew Process); and other key officials whose involvement added substantial value to the discussions.

The consultation brought together representatives from major RPSL agencies, shipping companies, crewing firms, and seafarers’ unions, creating a comprehensive platform for industry dialogue.

Participants engaged in substantive exchanges on critical aspects of seafarer recruitment frameworks, welfare provisions, regulatory adherence, and operational enhancements. The meeting underscored the government’s dedication to fostering a transparent, streamlined, and seafarer-focused maritime regulatory environment.
